COASTSWEEP 2010
Kickoff Details

This year, we invite you to join us at the Lynn and Nahant Beach Reservation as we officially kickoff the first day of the 2010 COASTSWEEP program on September 25, starting at 9:00 am. In addition to being a beautiful beach, this site was selected in order to highlight the excellent Adopt-A-Beach program run by Salem Sound Coastwatch.

Volunteers of all ages are welcome. Please meet at the lifeguard station/Halfway House on the causeway at 9:00 am. Refreshments and all cleanup supplies will be provided.

Thank you to the Friends of Lynn and Nahant Beach for their sponsorship of the kickoff.

Kickoff schedule:
9:00 - 9:30 Sign in and refreshments
9:30 - 10:00 Welcoming remarks and safety tips
10:00 - 11:30 Beach cleaning
11:30 - 12:30 Free lunch for all volunteers

Directions:
Take the Lynnway (Rt. 1A) to Carroll Parkway. Follow that to the Nahant Rotary and, then take the Nahant Causeway to the lifeguard station/Halfway House.

Driving tip: You have to drive down the Nahant Causeway and turn around in order to access parking and the lifeguard station. When you make your u-turn at the Tides Restaurant, stay to the far right and drive into the parking area. The Halfway House is about a half mile from the Tides Restaurant.

Great idea. Just depends on the day. North shore is easier than south shore for me.

I'm looking forward to any good reason to hang out on Nahant beach. If anyone is stuck for a ride and doesn't mind taking the blue line just let me know

    Petra,
I cannot email or post a greeting now. I am driving and taking someone. If you want to join us I am picking her up at 8 AM at Kendall station.

It was a great group of people getting together for a great cause. Although we did collect a decent amount of trash and some great data, I know many more beaches which are much more polluted than this one.

Loved it -- it was a great opportunity to go to Nahant beach, enjoy the outdoors, meet interesting people and do some feel-good clean-up. Thank you very much for organizing!
