Prudential Center: Terrace Food Court (map)
We'll be meeting by Regina's Pizzeria.
Everybody on the waiting list can attend "Making Cards for Sick Kids" tommorrw!
We'll be making cards for children with illnesses and their siblings and sending them out to the families directly. I will supply some materials, but I'm asking all volunteers to bring at least one arts & crafts item e.g., markers, construction paper, stickers, stamps, crayons, etc.
We'll be working alongside two other Meetup groups, Cool Folks in the City and Social Fun.

About Us
The Hugs & Hope Club for Sick Kids was created by Marsha Jordan in October 2000, as a ministry of encouragement for children battling critical illness. Every month we feature new stories and photos of sick children on our website. Our visitors and volunteers pray for, encourage, and send these children cheery postal mail (a.k.a."happy mail"). Our volunteers also sponsor many special projects to brighten the lives of the children on a regular basis!
Thanks for coming out, everybody! What a great turnout! I'm swimming in cards! You've mad a lot of kids happy today! Be proud!
Rick
Rick, you are a really special person. Am I ever happy that I had the opportunity of meeting you today and the great honor of making cards for those dear children. Everyone at the meet-up was truly committed to doing their best, so many talented people, and it was just a truly wonderful experience. thank you.
I'm really glad I came out for this, too! I'm sure the kids will love the cards!! From personal experience-I had leukemia when I was 10-I know how wonderful it feels to receive hand made cards and know that people care!
Hi Everybody,
I just want everyone to know that I have counted all the cards and came up with a grand total of 183!!! Let me just thank everybody again for all the hard work and creative effort that made this possible! I'm preparing now to send out the first wave of cards, and I won't finish until every card finds it's way into the hands of it's intended child. Please also check out the photos of the event that were taken by my good friend, Dina!
Thank you,
Rick
Wonderful time doing a wonderful thing. Rick, as we discusssed, is it possible to locate some "local" kids next time?
Mark,
That's a great idea. I'd love to make cards for some kids at the Jimmy Fund, Children's, etc.
I definitely want to reach out to some local kids the next time around. It's on my to-do list! I just need to figure out how to make it happen. Does anybody have some suggestions?
Rick,
I'd go directly to the facilities. I know they all have social work departments, and they'd know the kids best, and which ones would need the cards.
Thanks for planning this amazing event. I can't believe how creative so many of those cards were. Wow!!!! It feels so good knowing so many children will have a special moment to smile and enjoy their special card-knowing that someone cares about them:) I also would love to make cards for kids at Children's...Thanks for a great day!
I wasn't able to attend this time, but I would definitely love to help making cards another time. Also, would people be interested in going to facilities and making cards with the children? I've been thinking of doing that for a while, but haven't put the plan into action yet.
Jennifer,
That's a great idea. Or any type of arts & crafts projects, too.
Rick, my 12 year old has been wanting to volunteer as well... would it be ok to bring her along or is this adults only? Cool either way, let me know. Thanks!
